Pierre Matisse opened the gallery which bore his name in Nov. 1931 in the recently completed Fuller Building in N.Y. Between the time of his first arrival in N.Y. from Paris in 1924 and the opening of his gallery, Pierre Matisse acted as European agent in partnership with the N.Y. art dealer Valentine Dudensing.
